In 1908 the 50-year-old OHP died at Brookholt following an appendix operation. Alva, who was extremely superstitious and had a phobia about sleeping in a room in which someone died, had a new master bedroom built at Brookholt. In the last stages of its completion, a workman fell off the scaffold and died in the new bedroom. In 1909 Alva put Brookholt up for sale and in 1917-1918 built Beacon Towers in Sands Point.<br /><br />(Brookholt was still on the market in 1915.)Ray Spinzianoreply@blogger.com
