Thanks for posting the Times article, but FYI, the connection to the mansion that the apartment building replaced doesn't work.
Anything can be built again, It is just the cost and desire. Many of the old mansions off of Fifth Avenue have been bought back from institutions in the past few years and are being restored and returned to private use.

Thank you for the link fix and for the site. It's great to go beyond the Vanderbilt mansions and see how others in the 400 lived.
Do you think that something like this could be built today? If so, any idea as to the cost?
