Such a busy, crowded place---it suffers from maintaining the smaller scale of the old Kernochan cottage buried within. One wanders aimlessly through its rooms, more an accretion than a plan. (Nevertheless, it is all too wonderful)

Yes, That's just what i love about it.It is funny, so many new homes are designed to look like that they have been added to over time to give them age. A mansion isn't really a mansion if you can't get lost in it!

I definitely agree with you, Gary! Mansions should be huge! :)

I am coming alittle late to the conversation but what is the connection between the owners of this mansion and the same family that owns significant mansions in Glen Cove Long Island? I think I read that this Newport home is in fairly decent condition and leased to a school. I think at least one of the two homes in Glen Cove is fast becoming a neglected wreck?

Yes, the one on Long Island is the former Woolworth mansion, Called Winfield and has been for sale for quite a few years and is not in the best of shape. I heard that Seaview Terrace was having some work done to keep it from deteriorating, but I have also heard that not much is happening.
