When I first saw Newport, in the mid-60's, it still looked much like this--houses had been lost, a few unfortunate structure built, but it was still of a piece, and Chetwode, Stoneacre, et al, were still there. Since then, more demolitions, a few unfortunate remodelings, and much subdivision of ocean frontage, chipped away into smaller lots, on which have been built a series of mostly unfortunate mcmansions, etc., and much of the feel and integrity are lost. One now has to squint a little. Marvelous to see this clip---made me most nostalgic--and sad.
