While when many of us who have visited Newport, Rhode Island go to see the great Gilded Age mansions built by the millionaires of the era and are overwhelmed by their beauty and magnificence,  many of them are long gone, destroyed by fires or demolition. "Lost Newport" by Paul F. Miller documents many of these now lost and forgotten summer homes. I highly recommend this book and have posted here the latest revised edition. You can purchase it HERE on Amazon, but always check with your local bookstore too and visit it since there really is nothing like being able to look through a book and decide and often you will find other books you will enjoy. I rarely walk out of a bookstore with only one book!
