Elm Court at Sands Point
Aerial view of the Edgar F. Luckenbach estate at Sands Point, New York.
Below are some images of the estate during it's heyday and just prior to demolition after a designer show house in 1980.

Elm Court was so beautiful, and looks like it was in great shape before demolition. What a crime to destroy this house.
Luckenbach's daughter Andrea divorced her third husband Frederick O. Hammer, charging him with beating her with his fists and a flashlight, and holding her prisoner on their yacht for eight days. In 1954 Hammer shot her in the chest, hip, and arm while she was in the paddock of the Delaware Park Race Track. She survived the attack but died in 1962 at the age of forty-one.
Does anyone remember "Elm Court" as Sands Point Academy? I attended from Fifth thru Eighth grades, and would love to hear from other alumni.
I can be reached (if this site ever allows me to post) as hankmanning@msn.com
Still have the yearbooks. Interesting school.

I also attended Sands Point Academy, from 1963 to 1965. Check out sandspointacademy.com for links to facebook and other groups.
I taught music at Sands point Academy from 1965 thru 1968. It was quite an experience. Interesting kids, scary administration.
I was one of your students in 67-68.I remember you being one of the cool teachers.and that was a beautiful room.
