Gary you got what you were predicting, which is what you wanted. In previous posts you were constantly saying that this home would be demolished. That is what is wrong with all of these gilded age blogs. You people always predict doom and gloom when it comes to these houses. It is like you want to see them be destroyed. I don't get it. We all need to step up and try to help, not sit there and bet on what is going to happen. We need to put progams that they have in the U.K. In the U.K., they monitor the people who buy these homes to proctect the historical value of these old mansions. To sum it up, we need to protect these mansions instead of predicting doom and gloom.

Last year I contacted the media and tried to spread the word, it is only often when it is too late, that everybody gets upset. I truly do not wish this upon this great house, which is in my own back yard and have often visited.

It is ultimately a sad statement on ourselves that we allow our history to be so carelessly destroyed. The fate of this mansion will be decided upon by a few local village trustees in North Hills, Long Island and that is the problem. As a nation we disregard or heritage, our environment, and the very things that make our communities interesting, diverse and valuable. Our children for the most part dont know this countries history and it is reflected in our lack of concern when something as magnificent as Inisfada is demolished or neglected. Sad.

If you don't have $50million to buy it yourself then you should pipe down.

with close minded comments like this it is not surprising we take our culture, our history and our communities for granted and we lose architectural gems like Inisfada to the wrecking ball. People dont care enough to make the world a better place as long as they can drive their SUV's, turn on the AC and watch TV so they can keep up with the exploits of the Kardashians. This country is going down the toilet.
